Opening Night at EmpowerEd: A Day to Remember

Empowered Opening Day

Written by Daisha Glenn
Saturday was something special. I’m still smiling thinking about it.
After months of planning, dreaming, and preparing, EmpowerEd officially opened its doors—and wow, what a night. Families, friends, educators, and curious neighbors filled the space with energy, support, and hope. The atmosphere wasn’t just about a new tutoring space—it was about a movement toward empowerment, connection, and real change for learners who need it most.
What We Shared
We introduced what EmpowerEd is all about:
- Supporting kids with learning differences through personalized literacy and reading instruction
- Helping families navigate IEPs and educational roadblocks
- Creating a place where children feel seen, supported, and capable of amazing things
I talked about how every child deserves that moment—the one where reading finally clicks, confidence rises, and their voice gets louder and stronger.
Why It Mattered
What made Opening Night so powerful wasn’t just the turnout. It was the conversations. Parents telling us how long they’ve been looking for a place like this. Kids walking through the space and smiling. Educators asking, “How can I help?” That’s how I know this isn’t just a business—it’s a community.
We even had some of our students bravely speak up about their goals. Hearing them say things like, “I want to read in front of my class without getting nervous,” or “I want to help other kids like me one day,” reminded me why we built EmpowerEd in the first place.
What’s Next
This is only the beginning.
We’ll be offering:
- 1-on-1 Tutoring (reading, writing, and IEP-aligned support)
- Small Group Social Nights
- Parent workshops, community resources, and monthly newsletters
We’re here for Moorestown, Delran, Mount Laurel, Cinnaminson, and Cherry Hill—and anyone willing to believe in the potential of a struggling reader.
